That depends on what’s going on at home. If the kids are out at school all day, then yes, the stay-at-home parent has a lot of time. If however, you’re looking after a baby or toddlers, then no, I’m afraid the guy (usually) doesn’t get to shirk domestic chores. Babies and toddlers are full time jobs, and absolutely exhausting. There is no lunch or coffee break, you don’t get to hang at a colleague’s cube etc. So when the other parent walks in the door in the evening, the stay-at-home parent needs a break and needs “help” from then on.
