I kept journals from the age of about 6 until well into my 40s. Having lugged them over an ocean and from one house to the next, they were not only a physical burden, I began to wonder what their purpose was.

I then lugged them back over the ocean, and last year when I moved house again, I got rid of most of them. I didn't think my kids wd be interested enough to read them all, so I've kept the years they were born and a few other notable years.

So far, no regrets.
