I find this article both confusing and concerning. It skims around the edges of ‘how to look intelligent’ and never once mentions the quality of one’s work. Where is —
Delivering your product on time?
Being proactive in anticipating problems?
Not having to be asked twice to do something?
Having the courage to ask when you don’t understand your instructions?Proofing till it’s perfect?
Exceeding your boss’s/client’s expectations?
Doesn’t matter what your shoes look like, if you’re not doing the above, you’re not going to last long.
And — while messy desks make me break out in hives,- I’m currently in lock down with a husband who’s at the top of his professional game, and a son who’s smashing his IB studies, and they both look like they’re sitting in the middle of a tornado path.
