I aree with people who say that Madonna can do whatever she wants whenever she wants (within the law), but - let's not pretend she's bucking any patriarchal system.

She's playing into the same hands that have told women not to age, not to get fat etc etc for decades. It's definied by what is acceptable to the male gaze.

She's not much older than me, and I can attest that it's not fun watching your face and body lose elasticity and suppleness. If some women want to 'hold back time' with whatever is available, that's fine and it's their business. But don't then go holding yourself up as any kind of rebel, that's all.
