"...Growing up the son of a single mom, I can't really see how I benefited from "pay inequity" more than a woman who had a father growing up."

All working men benefit from pay inequity. It means they are hired at higher salaries, promoted on bigger percentages etc.

This not only impacts day to day living but means more in the pension pot since that's on a percentage rate and 3% of more money = more money.

When it's a systemic inequity every man benefits.
