GriefTok sounds like a very helpful forum.

We need to get back to seeing death as part of like, as it were. We have euphamised and sanitised death and dying to such an extent that it's now almost taboo. If we could talk about it more, not only would it help the grieving, it would also help others.

One thing I realised when some of my friends avoided the subject (or even avoided me) was that they weren't emotionally able to deal with it themselves. While it might look selfish or cold to others, their feelings were also real; they weren't being mean or careless, they just didn't have the wherewithal to deal with the grief either.
