"Because we grow up seeing each other as competition. Despite all the efforts of the feminist movement to unite and empower women, we’re still willing to cut each other’s throats over several things — jobs, social approval, and men."

This won't change until tokenism is a thing of the past. While the spots at the table are limited to one or two women, of course there will be heightened competition between us. The patriarchy wants to keep it like that too.

Women are not 'naturally' more competitive with each other. Aren't we known for our 'softer skills' after all? So let's dispel the notion that we somehow can't behave ourselves when we work with other women. The system is not currently set up for more than a few women to reach the higher rungs of the ladder.

We need that to change.
